La Grande Roue de Paris, December 2009
The second half of the fellowship began today. For the next three weeks, I will be in Paris at the office of Pierre-Antoine Gatier, Architect en Chef and Inspecteur Général des Monuments Historiques -- and the first French recipient of the Richard Morris Hunt Fellowship. His office has developed a special expertise in the restoration of 20th century masterpieces.

3:00 pm Chez Michele le Menestrel Ullrich to review my itinerary for the next 7 months.
5:00 pm Meeting with Michele and Mireille Grubert, Director of the Ecole de Chaillot, and Claire Windfohr, Ecole de Chaillot, to review my itinerary and brainstorm about other opportunities.
7:30 pm Meeting with Simone Monneron, French Director of RHMF, at Chez Michele et Jose Maria Ullrich
8:00 pm Dinner hosted by Michele and Jose Maria -- with many past fellows and long-time supporters of the program: Simone Monneron, Alan & Ruth Schwartzman, Stephanie Celle-Riccio RMHF 1998 and her husband, Sabina Fabris RMHF 2002, Pascal Filatre RMHF 2004, Christophe Loustau RMHF 2006 and his wife Jacky, and Diego Roderguiz RMHF 2008.
It was a fantastic introduction to an incredible group of people and I am honored to be so generously welcomed by each and every one.

21/09: Prelude in Paris
Scott and I arrived in Paris a week early, to enjoy some quality time together before the beginning of this long separation. It was a much needed vacation for us both and enabled me some time to get settled before the sprint of the fellowship began. Scott was an immense help - who else re-does the shower joint when on vacation in Paris? It was a treasured time for us both.
